Have you ever started cooking a meal and right in the middle you discover you do not have an ingredient? How frustrating! It has happened to me so many times!
Well, this very situation happened to me while cooking tacos not too long ago. I thought I bought one of those taco seasoning packets and come to find out, I put it back on the shelf at the store. Ugh! So, I just winged it that night.
Weeks later, I was looking online for some new ways to create a more flavorful taco meat and ran into a post about making your own taco seasoning. I actually had all the ingredients in my spice cabinet, so I went ahead and made my own container of seasoning.
The original recipe can be found at Yummly.
I laid everything out to make sure I had all of the ingredients. Then, I used a cooking funnel to make sure all of the flakes, powders, etc. made it into the container instead of on my counter. If you do not have a cooking funnel, you can use a piece of paper. Check out Pastry Wiz for instructions on how to make a paper funnel.
Finally, I closed the lid and shook the mixture until it was a consistent reddish/orange color.
