I made this Spooky Halloween Bark for a church potluck this year and it was a hit! I decided to be a good wifey and make my husband’s office a batch in celebration of the upcoming holiday. They loved it! How can you go wrong with white chocolate, Oreos, candy corn M&M’s and sprinkles?
In order to make this tasty treat, you will need to purchase white candy melts. I used Wilton candy melts because I like the product and have used it before to make other desserts. The exact number of bags to purchase depends on how big of batch you are wanting to make and the thickness of the bark. I usually purchase 3-4 bags at a time. You will also need to buy the toppings and food coloring. I wanted orange food coloring, so I made sure to buy a package with red and yellow.
In a large bowl, empty a bag of candy melts and follow the heating instructions. You do not want to heat the mixture too much over the recommended time or it will burn the chocolate. When the chocolate has melted to a liquid consistency, use the red and yellow food coloring to make it orange. Once you have reached the desired color, spread the chocolate onto a baking sheet and sprinkle the toppings. You will want to refrigerate this overnight so that it is solid in the morning. I would recommend not breaking apart the bark until you are ready to serve it or until you are packing it up to take to a party.
- When heating up the chocolate, I usually stop the microwave every 15 seconds and stir.
- Pay attention to how thick you spread the chocolate onto the baking sheet. If it is too thick, it will be hard to eat and if it is too thin, it will just fall apart.
