Show your child you are thinking about them on Valentine’s Day by surprising them with a heart-themed lunch! Can you image the joy on their face when they open up their lunch bag to see all the goodies you have made for them?
Hearts Playing Card Lunch
This looks a little intimidating, but it is actually not too hard to put together. For this project you will need: a crustless, prepared sandwich, peeled orange slices, strawberries cut in half (make one look like a spear and the other heart shaped), peeled carrot, small piece of bread cut into a heart, two cherry tomatoes, one cranberry, salad mix, and two pieces of licorice.
In order to assemble the Hearts Playing Card Lunch, you will need to first lay a bed of lettuce on the bottom of the container. Next, place the sandwich in the middle and set three orange slices to the right. You will then need to place two pieces of licorice on each side of the sandwich for the arms (make sure to tuck them behind the sandwich). Then, wrap the licorice around the carrot stick. Now place the spear-shaped strawberry above the carrot. Lastly, lay the heart-shaped piece of bread (I would suggest cheese instead) on top of the strawberry that is supposed to be the head and top with a cranberry.
Puppy Love Valentine Lunch
How cute is this? Almost everything in the lunch is heart-shaped. You will need to purchase a set of heart-shaped cookie cutters for this one. I like the variety in this particular lunch.
****For the eyes of the puppy, I would use sliced olives so that you are adding more veggies to the lunch.
Lots of Hearts Lunch
It looks like this lunch includes Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookies-yum! This resembles a healthier version of a traditional Lunchable.
***You can substitute a lean lunch meat for the pepperoni.
Healthy Hearts Lunch
This lunch includes a rice ball in the shape of a heart, a fruit roll up, turkey hotdogs, carrots, strawberries, grapes and a cookie. There is a great instructional on how to make the hot dogs into hearts at Spoonful.
***You can also use cherry tomatoes and shape them into hearts using the same concept as the carrots and hotdogs.
Love Letter Lunch
This is a really cute idea! You can find an instructional on how to make your child’s sandwich into an envelope at Bento Mama.
Hotdog Heart Mac & Cheese
And now for something completely different…
If your child loves mac and cheese with hotdogs, this is your lucky day! All you need to do is prepare the mac and cheese as instructed on the box or you can make it homemade (Check Out 6 Creative Ways To Make Mac & Cheese). Next, you will cut the hotdog almost all the way in half. You will want to leave the tip of it connected so that you can make a heart shape later. Then, boil the hotdog and place on top of the mac and cheese in the shape of a heart.
